There were hundreds of people skating on this particular day. She could see at least five teenagers, all practising figure skating. She could see two people dressed in very tight clothes with tight hats and they were skating as fast as she’d ever seen anyone skate, ever. Round and round they went. There were a group of penguins skating around. Jenny could tell they weren’t real penguins because real penguins don’t skate, they waddle. At one end of the lake there was a choir singing. She couldn’t wait to get on the ice and fly like the wind. They finished lunch and she got laced up and Gramma kissed her goodbye and before you knew it, Jenny had caught up to Micah and they were twirling around and having a grand time. Micah’s face was red and his eyes were shining, as if he had tears in them, but it was just the cold weather. |
