Micah was ten and in the same class at school. He was going to show Jenny a compass that his dad had given him. He’d said it was neat. Micah was OK, for a boy, but he got a bit rough and noisy sometimes. The next day, around eleven, Gramma said, “Go and get your coat and gloves Jenny dear. I’m going shopping and you can go to the lake with Micah. Take plenty of warm woolly clothing.” Gramma always made Jenny get her own stuff when they went out. She said she had enough of her own things to organize. They stopped and had some soup and a sandwich on the way, and Jenny could see Micah skating round and round with his bright yellow spider hat on. |
